Community Advisory Council
The Community Advisory Council is vehicle for the broad stake holder involvement required by U.S. HUD's Continuum of Care regulations. As a major component of the Toledo Lucas County Homelessness Board, the Community Advisory Board will have broad and diverse stakeholder representation from the shelter community, and all those who have an interest in eliminating homelessness in Toledo Lucas County. This body is critically important, as it is the community's source of expertise on homelessness and housing stability.
The Community Advisory Council is responsible for advising the TLCHB board. It helps to craft a comprehensive strategy for housing in Toledo, one that takes a systemic look at all aspects of housing: the emergency shelters, transitional and supportive housing, safe and healthy housing, solutions for youth homelessness, access to housing free from discrimination, access to housing justice, homelessness prevention, affordable housing preservation and increasing the supply of affordable and/or supportive housing where needed. It creates a singular space in the community for dialogue, planning and action related to housing.
It is intended the Community Advisory Board will draw participation from the shelter community, transitional and permanent supportive housing providers, the faith community, philanthropy, financial institutions, homeless or formerly homeless individuals, real estate sector, social services, local government, educational sector, the business community, workforce development, health care and the local nonprofit sector. Therewill be no maximum number of members. Community AdvisoryCouncil members are invited to join in and participate in our efforts to whatever extent they are able to.
